The 2021 Met Gala did not disappoint and certainly lived up to its hype. Several celebrates came out in droves in their Sunday best outfits. Among the Hollywood celebrities who showed up was Kenyan actress and Oscar award winner, Lupita Nyong’o.

The actress showed up at the American-themed event wearing a full denim dress with her hair masterfully styled on top of her head in a manner that showed off her natural texture at every angle.

“I was inspired by denim material, as it is one of the most iconic fabrics defined by American history, and in the ’90s, Versace dominated the magazines with their Versace Jeans Couture collection,” Nyong’o’s stylist, Micaela Erlanger told InStyle over email.

Fashion critics were all praises for the ebony actress who drew inspiration from the ’90s with a mix of Old Hollywood Western films. Compared to other celebrities who read from a different script, Lupita not only understood the assignment, but she also conquered it.

“It felt like a perfect theme — and there is nothing better than denim topped with diamonds.” Erlanger went on.

Her sculpture hairstyle featured gravity-defying volume with looped pieces of hair at the forehead that framed her face better than any bangs could have. Every last detail was taken into consideration, right down to her complementary navy-blue eye makeup by celebrity makeup artist Nick Barose, who used Lancôme products.

According to Erlanger, it was always the plan to style this creative look with bold jewelry.

And for all the efforts that went to make her look like a million-dollar buck, Lupita was all grateful for her team effort. What a class act.
