Lupita, the queen of the red carpet
Lupita Nyong’o is the queen of red carpet moments and she didn’t disappoint at the Oscars 2022.
The Black Panther star came glad in a gilded Prada gown—embellished with sequins, paillettes, and beaded bloom bursts— which stole the night. Her look involved a floor-length gold dress with an open back and long sleeves. Gold sequins completely cover every inch of the dress, which makes her sparkle from a mile away. The waist of the dress incorporates longer, streamer-like sequins that drape off of the dress that makes her look like a walking firework. Pink floral embellishments dot the dress to create a bit of texture throughout the piece.

As always, her hairstylist Vernon Francois saw to it that she had an equally regal hair look to match. Vernon is known for his work in the natural hair movement, particularly with curly hair and afro textured hair and Lupita was a perfect match for Vernon who crafted a mesmerizing textured updo.
“It’s a sisterlocks updo with a soft, graceful, glamorous feel influenced by what Lupita is wearing and the occasion,” explains François, adding that the overall look drew inspiration from African figures in classical Greek art, vogue magazine reported.
“The asymmetrical, hand-sculpted shape echoes the floral design in Lupita’s dress while elongating her neckline,” he added.
Adding to the drama was her makeup look, which hinged on gold leaf-pressed lids and a rich ruby red pout painted on by Nick Barose.

At the Oscars, Lupita’s look was impossible to miss and she even sat next to Hollywood heavyweights Will Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett when one of the greatest night in the history of television went down.
Rock was onstage at the Oscars to present Best Documentary when he decided to take a jab at Jada Pinket Smith’s shaved head by comparing it to the look of Demi Moore in the 1997 movie “G.I. Jane.”
“Jada, I love you. GI Jane 2, can’t wait to see you,” Rock said, in seeming reference to Pinkett Smith’s shaved head.

Smith at first laughed but when his wife rolled her eyes after Rock’s joke he walked onto the stage and slapped Chris Rock hard on the face before returning to his seat and shouting:
“Keep my wife’s name out your f***g mouth.”
Later in the evening, Will nabbed his first Academy Award for his portrayal of Richard Williams, the father of tennis greats Venus and Serena Williams, in King Richard.
Last year, Pinkett Smith announced she had shaved her head after being diagnosed with alopecia
