Treasury and Economic Planning Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u has warned civil servants to prepare for delayed salaries amid a projected economic downturn.
“The national government is caught between two extremes; high level of debt financing and financing constraints due to limited access to finance in the domestic and international financial market,” warned Prof Ndung’u.
Many civil servants working in ministries, departments, and agencies are experiencing salary delays contrary to claims by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa that salaries had already been disbursed.
