No to Noodles
Kenyans have been warned against eating some chicken and vegetable flavoured instant noodles commonly referred to as Indomie.
The Comesa Competition Commission (CCC) has warned consumers against consuming the popular noodles which many Nairobians especially bachelors can’t resist due to their easy and fast cooking.
The decision was triggered by Egypt recalling some 733,340 cartons of different Indomie flavours that were found to be unsafe for human consumption.

On Tuesday, the Food and Safety Authority (FSA) of Egypt found that Indomie’s chilli, chicken and vegetable flavour packets contained aflatoxins and pesticide residues in quantities that exceeded safe limits.
However, FSA stated that other than those three products, Indomie noodles were found to be generally safe for human consumption.
Following the findings, Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (Comesa) watchdog has warned consumers in markets within the bloc, including East African Community countries save for Tanzania and South Sudan, to watch out for the affected products.
What’s contained in that Indomie on your plate

Indomie is made from flour and fresh spices giving it a unique and delicious taste. Due to its practicality and delicious taste, instant noodles have proven popular with consumers especially bachelors and spinster who have no time to cook.
Indomie, which were first introduced and marketed in 1958 in Japan, comes in many different varieties, with the most popular being Mi Goreng which literally means Fried Noodles, but without all the fuss.
It comes pre-cooked and all one needs to do is throw in a bowl and pour boiled water into it and then allow it to sit for about five minutes for the noodles to get soft.
Drain water from the noodles after 4 minutes, and add the follow-come spices while still in the bowl, the noodles will be both soft and hot.
After that depending on your preferences you can either add the spices contained in the pack or set your frying pan on the heat, add sliced tomatoes, onions, fresh pepper, and fry for about five minutes before serving.
